Power Systems

How industrial sites cut power bills with renewables and batteries

Wind performs on cloudy, windy days, solar performs on sunny ones, and a battery smooths what is left. Michael Day explains how combining all three helps large industrial customers flatten their generation profile, especially where network constraints or location drive up costs.

Combining renewables and batteries, particularly wind, solar, and BESS has quite a a value additive approach because where we see wind doing really well on those cloudy, windy days, solar doing well on the sunny days, and then the battery smoothing it out, it allows the large industrial consumers to really smooth out that generation profile and achieve a better result, particularly when there's network constraints or high network costs due to the location of the site.
